Welcome to the website of the Cultural Treasures Foundation™, a nonprofit charitable and educational organization with its offices at 1233 20th Street NW, Suite 703, Washington DC 20036 (the “Foundation”). This Privacy Policy relates to the use of the Foundation’s website, www.culturaltreasures.org (the “Site”), as well as any other media now existing or hereafter created through which we offer Foundation content now or in the future (collectively the “Foundation Media”). Please take a moment to review this Privacy Policy, which represents an agreement between the Foundation (sometimes referred to as “we”), and you, the end user (referred to herein as “you,” “your,” or the “user”). By using, visiting or accessing the Foundation Media, you signify your acceptance of, and agree to be bound by, this Privacy Policy and the Foundation Terms of Use (which explains the conditions under which you are authorized to view and use the Foundation Media), which is incorporated herein by reference. This Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use are sometimes referred to collectively as the “Policies.” If you do not agree to be bound by the Policies, please immediately discontinue your use of the Foundation Media.

Please know that we may amend this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use at any time and from time to time. Each time you use or visit any of the Foundation Media, you will be deemed to have accepted any such changes. The Foundation shall have no obligation to notify you of any such changes other than posting such modifications on the Site. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected through the Foundation Media and not to information collected or obtained from other sources. See “Links to Other Sites” below.

The Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of the users of the Foundation Media, This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect, what we do with it, with whom we share it, and how you can correct or change such information.

The Types of Information We Collect

Personal Information: Personally Identifiable Information (“Personal Information”) is any information that can be used to identify a specific individual. Whether we collect Personal Information will depend on how you are using the Foundation Media. We collect and store any Personal Information you enter into the Foundation Media or provide to us in some other manner. For example, you provide us with Personal Information (including your name, email address and telephone number) when you reach out to us through our Contact Us option or otherwise email us. You also provide Personal Information when you submit credit card information.

Aggregate and Anonymous Data: Aggregate and anonymous data is information collected automatically through the operation of the Foundation Media, as well as certain Personal Information which we aggregate and use in a manner that does not identify you personally (“AA Data”). We may collect usage data (such as which pages of the Site you visit and in what sequence) through the use of various technologies. For example, we collect IP addresses from individuals who access the Foundation Media. We do not link IP addresses to any Personal Information, so although your session will be logged, you will remain anonymous to us. We may also collect computer and connection information such as the type of browser you are using, the type of operating system you are using, and the domain name of your Internet Service Provider.

Unless you provide us with Personal Information, you remain anonymous to us other than by association with an Internet protocol address or other authentication mechanism.

Our Use of the Information We Collect From You

Personal Information: We use the Personal Information collected from you in ways that are compatible with the purposes for which it was collected or as subsequently authorized by you. For example, we will use your Personal Information to enable you to use the features of the Foundation Media, to respond to your inquiries; for system administration, customer support, and troubleshooting purposes; for targeted marketing and product service announcements; for sending newsletters; to improve the design of the Foundation Media; to enable us to enforce our Terms of Use; and in aggregate form, to track and analyze site usage. The Foundation will take reasonable steps to ensure that Personal Information is relevant to its intended use, accurate, complete, and current.

AA Data: We may also use Personal Information in aggregate form for purposes of research or analysis. Although this aggregated data may be based in part on Personal Information, it does not identify you personally. We may share this type of AA Data with a variety of third parties, including our affiliates, agents, research partners and current and prospective business partners. We may use AA Data collected from the Foundation Media for administration, advertising and promotional purposes, and we may share such information with various affiliated and unaffiliated entities for such purposes.

Onward Transfer of Personal Information

Except as stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not disclose your Personal Information to third parties without first informing you and giving you the opportunity to opt out of having your Personal Information shared.

The Foundation may work with other organizations that provide specific services for us, such as credit card processing. When we engage a third party to perform these functions, that third party will be provided with the particular Personal Information it needs to perform its function. We require such third party service providers to keep the Personal Information confidential.

In addition, we may disclose Personal Information without providing you with the ability to opt out under the following limited circumstances: to (1) protect the legal rights, privacy or safety of the Foundation, its subsidiaries or affiliates and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents; (2) protect the safety and security of other users of the Foundation Media; (3) protect against fraud or other illegal activity or for risk management purposes; (4) respond to inquiries or requests from public authorities; (5) permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; (6) enforce our Policies; or (7) comply with the law or legal process.

Use of Cookies

The Foundation may employ “cookie” technology on the Site. Cookies are small pieces of text that are stored on your computer and act as a tool for controlling certain system variables and storing system configuration information in the WWW environment. The Foundation uses cookies to store user preferences for viewing and printing and to store authentication information. No Personal Information is extracted in the cookie-setting process, and we do not use cookies to identify what other sites or pages you have visited. We do not involve advertisers, who may place a cookie on your browser, in the operation of our site.

In addition, the Foundation shares general usage data in aggregated form such that no Personal Information is identifiable to participating libraries, publishers, and the general public. The Foundation will provide you all of your retained personal information provided at registration (where applicable) on request.

Links to Other Sites

The Site and other elements of the Foundation Media contain external links to other organizations and websites, and we do not control the use of data collection on external websites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies and Terms of Use. This Privacy Policy governs only the Foundation Media.

Your Choices

If you have previously provided Personal Information to us and are receiving emails or other communications from us and you do not want to continue receiving such emails or want to change the type of emails you receive, please contact us. If you ask that we stop using your Personal Information, we will take reasonable steps to honor that request on a prospective basis.

However, we may retain records of your Personal Information for analytical purposes, record-keeping integrity, to prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, or as needed in order to comply with applicable federal, state, or local law. In addition, if certain Personal Information has already been provided to third parties as described in this Privacy Policy, retention of such information will be subject to the respective third parties’ privacy policies.

Security

Although the Foundation has appropriate security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site, no information transferred over the Internet is 100% secure. The Foundation cannot guarantee the total security of information transmitted to us.

Ongoing Assessment

We engage in periodic self-assessment to ensure compliance with our Privacy Policy and to confirm that the policy remains accurate, comprehensive for the information intended to be covered, pro and completely implemented. We encourage interested persons to raise any concerns with us using the contact information below. We will investigate and attempt to resolve complaints and disputes regarding use and disclosure of personal information in accordance with the principles contained in this Privacy Policy.
